Ageas response to Government Written Ministerial Statement on Flooding Barry Smith, Chief Executive Office, Ageas UK comments:

“It is a welcome step that the Government announced today that it is moving with the industry towards a levy type solution for customers in high risk flood areas. This will ensure that flood insurance remains both affordable and accessible for all. But more work needs to be done during the summer recess to maintain momentum and give us confidence that a long term solution can be found, particularly agreement on the role the insurance industry and Government will play. Of course, we will continue to cover our customers as that detail is being worked through. The last few weeks of flooding across the country have shown that this continues to be a very real problem for many communities and today’s report from the Committee on Climate Change reinforces the need to create a joined up Government policy on flood insurance, investment in flood defences, building regulations and planning to tackle this issue effectively.”
